REPORT AND REFLECTION: CASE STUDY ANALYSIS & TEAMWORK REFLECTION
PURPOSE, GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURE
Due:
Monday of Week 5, by 1:00p.m.
Weighting: 20%
Length:
1000 words (Report of 800 words, and Reflection on Teamwork of 200 words).
This excludes the reference list.
Case Study: Planning and Strategic Management at Coca-Cola (pages 183–185 in textbook).
Learning Outcome: This assessment task relates to the learning outcome on Evaluating the
purpose and value of teamwork and working collaboratively.
PURPOSE:
This assessment task targets the development of students’ analytical, critical, problem
solving, research skills and their personal reflective skills, as per their own individual
reflections and evaluations of their teamwork.
Students are asked to review the marking rubric in iLearn. Marks will be available in
Gradebook.
MARKING CRITERIA:
The marking criteria are set in accordance with the students’ requirements, as follows:
•
Clarity and quality of in-depth analysis of the case study contents;
•
Quality and accuracy of the systematic and diagnostic background of the allocated
case study of Coca-Cola;
•
Depth of analysis of the responses to the case study brief (three end-of-case study
discussion questions, featured on page 185); and
•
Quality and depth of reflections on the student’s own individual teamwork
experience, by:
1
1. Demonstrating an understanding of the value of teamwork, including the
challenges and opportunities it may present;
2. Demonstrating an ability to identify and reflect on the problems and/or
challenges and opportunities the teamwork experience may have presented;
3. Demonstrating an ability to form and implement effective and efficient
solutions to the identified problems and/or challenges, that may have
surfaced during, or because of, teamwork; and
4. Demonstrating an ability to capitalise on the opportunities, that may have
been experienced during, or because of, teamwork.

Quality of additional research undertaken, as per:
1. Degree of relevance of sources used to the issues under study and the
analytical responses featured in your brief.
2. Employment of correct Harvard (AGPS) referencing style.

Use of appropriate structure and logical development of the report.
•
Academic style and use of language, clarity of expression, grammar, spelling,
punctuation, sentence structure and terminology employed, as per management and
business glossaries weekly covered in class.

Overall report layout and presentation.
NATURE OF TASK:
This assessment task is an individual effort, with a teamwork component attached to it,
whereby the contents, background and brief of the allocated case study of Coca-Cola are
initially discussed and analysed in student teams, while the written report (analytically
addressing the Case Study: Background and Brief, and the student’s own individual Reflections
on Teamwork experience), is an individual effort.

TASK COMPONENTS:
The individual written repot entails two (2) main sections, whereby section one (case study
analysis) encompasses two parts, and section two (reflection on teamwork experience) is
comprised of four parts, as follows:
SECTION ONE: Coca-Cola Case Study Analysis
I.
Systematic and diagnostic case study background presentation (pages 183 – 184); and
II.
Analytical responses to case study brief, addressing the three discussion questions
featured at the end of the case study (page 184).
SECTION TWO: Reflection on Teamwork Experience
I.
Individual and personal evaluation of the purpose and value of teamwork;
II.
Identification and reflection of the problems and/or challenges and opportunities that
may have surfaced during, or as result of, teamwork;
III.
Formation and implementation of effective and efficient solutions to problems and/or
challenges; and
IV.
Effective and efficient capitalisation on the opportunities that may have surfaced
because of teamwork.
PROCEDURE/MECHANICS:
Considering the above guidelines on the purpose, nature and components of this assessment
task, the preparation for this assessment is arranged in two (2) main steps, as follows:
1. Teamwork Activity: Discussion of Case Study Contents and Briefing in Student Teams
The first step entails dividing the class into student teams of three to four members
per team, depending on class size.
The student teams are then allocated with class time (as per Week Two Lesson Plan,
Block III: Tutorial session 2.3, under Activity B: Case Study Analysis), to discuss and
analyse their responses to the case study titled, Planning and Strategic Management
at Coca-Cola (pages 183 – 184 in textbook), in relations to both contents and brief.
As per Week Two Lesson Plan, students should have already read, researched and
analysed the case study as part of their assigned homework, and are coming to class

ready to discuss their views and responses to the case brief with their allocated team
members.
Upon completion of the group discussions, students are requested not to share their
discussions, including possible relevant insights gained through their teamwork
experience, with students from other teams, or share their responses with other
classmates, as their analysis of the case study contents and background, and their
responses to the case study brief, will be formally assessed as part of this assessment
task, set for this purpose.
2. Individual Task: Written Report and Reflection
Secondly, students are to individually write and electronically submit their Report and
Reflection assignment via Turnitin, using the link in iLearn, by Monday of week 5 at
1:00p.m.
Only reports submitted electronically will be marked.
Academic and scholarly articles can be sourced from the Library’s online database.
Google and Google Scholar are also useful research tools. Students may find nonacademic material on Coca-Cola to be also useful. Your report must be based on the
material contained in your book, and the research undertaken for this purpose.
Without the necessary research, and by merely depending on the textbook chapter,
your analysis will be restricted and limited in relation to the overall Coca-Cola issues,
and end-of-case discussion questions.
Your report should include a systematic analysis of the allocated case study contents
and background (pages 166 – 167 in textbook), responses to the three end-of-case
discussion questions (page 167 in textbook) and relate to the relevant theoretical
concepts from the unit.
Students are to include a list of the references used.
Turnitin will check your report against over a billion reports and other submitted
assignments, to identify any cases which should be checked for plagiarism.
Note that the penalties for plagiarism can be severe, and a case of plagiarism, detected
by other means, will still be brought, even if the Turnitin program fails to detect it.
Thus, you must ensure that you submit only your own work, with all sources properly
acknowledged and referenced.

The length of the Report and Reflection assessment task is 1,000 words (excluding the
reference list), whereby the length of the case study analysis report (section one) is
800 words, and the length of the teamwork reflection (section 2) is 200 words.
Include the word count at the end of the report, and before the reference list.
Be mindful that Turnitin similarity should be 5% or lower.
No extensions will be granted unless an application for the Disruption to Studies is
made and approved.
Late reports must also be submitted through Turnitin. For late submissions and late
submission penalties, please refer to the Unit Guide.
REPORT STRUCTURE AND WRITING STYLE
Please ensure that you adhere to the following structure in your report:
The report should be written in a formal and academic style. It will be evaluated for
discriminatory language, clarity of expression and overall presentation.
You are required to use Harvard (AGPS) Referencing style throughout your report.
Do not use bullet points, and casual language or bracketed comments.
Use 1.5 line spacing, 2.5 cm margins on top, bottom and on each side, Times New Roman font
size 12.
Your report must be fully and appropriately referenced, using Harvard (AGPS) intext citations.
Substantial marks will be deducted for inadequate, or incorrect, referencing. Aim for, at least,
one (1) to two (2) intext citations per 100 words.
You are to attach a MUIC cover sheet, including your Turnitin receipt, lecturer’s name and
marking rubric, when submitting your report for marking.
Do not use colour printing or formatting templates when submitting your report.
Do not use footnotes or endnotes.
LATE SUBMISSIONS
Late submissions are possible and will be penalised at 20% per day up to 4 days (weekend
inclusive).
If a student submits the assessment task 5 or more days after the due date, without grounds
for special consideration, a record of submission will be made, but the student will receive a
zero mark for the assessment task.

RETENTION OF RECORDS
Students are required to keep a copy of all items submitted, or completed for assessment, or
evaluation, until the end of the grade appeal period.
This includes any notes taken during team discussions, research sessions, as well as the
process of responding to the case study brief and writing the Report and Reflection.
