Sommers, B. D., Gunja, M. Z., Finegold, K., & Musco, T. (2015). Changes in self-reported
insurance coverage, access to care, and health under the Affordable Care Act. Jama,
314(4), 366-374.
Affordable care act is a healthcare reform law whose aim is to increase the number of Americans
who are covered by health insurance. The act has an impact on both the large and small
businesses. For the small businesses, they are defined as organizations that have less than fifty
employees. Large businesses entail those businesses that have more fifty employees. The act
creates health insurance exchanges which act as the new markets for one to purchase insurance.
The acts also impose fines on employers who do not provide insurances coverages to their
employees. For smaller businesses which include those with few employees that are less than 50
employees, they are exempted from the fines.

Association between the Affordable Care Act dependent coverage expansion and cervical
cancer stage and treatment in young women. Jama, 314(20), 2189-2191.
The other impact is on small businesses that offer individuals with health insurance coverage.
For businesses that have fewer than 25 individuals, they will be eligible for tax credit of thirtyfive percent of insurance premiums expenses. In instances, the employer had an existing plan in
place before the announcement of affordable acts. The employer will not be required to change
their plan in fitting the affordable act. They should remain with the existing plan but should put
into considerations that they don’t reduce they coverage they offer or increase costs to the
employees. In determining whether an employee is a full-time employee or not the act defines
full-time employees as those individuals who work for at least thirty hours in a week. According
to the examined analysis, they show that the use of open exchanges among businesses will have

no impact on the number of people insured but the number of insured individuals will surely
increase. This way the state will have attained its main objective of ensuring that so many people
can receive better health care services in the state.
W Leo, D. (2015). The Affordable Care Act.
With the introduction of the act businesses and especially the employers have seen an increase
regarding health premiums and fees that are related to the Act. Some employers have reduced the
benefits the employees to be below what the active advocates for. For instance, some reduce the
working hours of an individual employee to be below the set standards and guidelines. This
affected the company in that it changes the working patterns that they were practicing to ensure
that they don’t pay the required amount and they don’t pay penalties for failure of acting
according to the set goals and objectives. The act has also been able to bring a new concept in the
business world. The regulation that requires that businesses offer benefits to any employee that
gets to work for 30 hours and above has failed to help people in making future predictions on
either how the company will offer employment in future or how the company will offer benefits
to the employees.
Frean, M., Gruber, J., & Sommers, B. D. (2017). Premium subsidies, the mandate, and
Medicaid expansion: Coverage effects of the Affordable Care Act. Journal of Health
Economics, 53, 72-86.
The affordable act has to enable young people to be covered under their parents cover until the
age of 26. This help ensures that by the time they stop using their parent’s plans they are in a
position of using their own. Or if they can’t buy one, they are in employment that helps in paying

for their cover. This offers a healthy lifestyle to the young adults in the country as well as
financial security before they become completely independent in taking care of themselves. To
the women, they are provided with a wider range option in choosing their service providers.
With these options, they can save money since they also qualify for low monthly costs and they
cannot be changed more than the men. Pregnant women get to benefit more with the act since
preventative and checkup are not charged before and after birth. This is aimed at ensuring both
the child and the mother are healthy.
Barbaresco, S., Courtemanche, C. J., & Qi, Y. (2015). Impacts of the Affordable Care Act
dependent coverage provision on health-related outcomes of young adults. Journal of
health economics, 40, 54-68.
The affordable care Act is about to be thrown away by republican not because it is not efficient
but because of political interest in having their medical bill. They kind of proposal may not be
effective like that of Affordable care act. Some of the reasons why they would be pushing for
this unpopular bill could be. One of the reasons could be keeping promises. During campaigns,
Trump had promised the voters to replace Obamacare and come up with a better alternative
medical bill that would be able to cater for all Americans. Though most of the politician is
known to not keeping their promises, this would be seen as one way of keeping the said promises
to the voter. The second reason could be that they want to satisfy the donors and activists. The
third reason could be ideology.

AFFORDABLLE CARE ACT

Until now the full impact of the Affordable Care Act is unknown since employer’s mandate was
delayed. Businesses though have experienced increased costs. Some of these costs include
patient-centered outcome, increased premiums and research trust fund. This act will continue
impacting businesses all over the country. To be able to identify the importance on both cost and
employment there is need to study the changes and costs within the business environment.no
proper adjustments that can be made with proper and well-advanced information on the matter.
Knowing the impact that these changes will bring to the economy, job market, as well as the
employees, will help in reducing negative impacts from happening.

Outline
Introduction
One of the issues which have taken roots in the United States is the Affordable Care Act. The act
was developed with an emphasis on providing Americans with affordable health. It was
developed with the aim of making sure that all Americans no matter of their economic status are
enjoying the required services. Although this has been tremendous efforts, the Act has many
issues such as sustenance. They are those who support the move will others do not. With this in
mind, the focus of the paper will be analyzing the effect of Act on business and employees with
specific mindset of the moderate republic
The historical and constitutional basis of American Government’s structure and how this
relates to the policy.
Constitutional and the Act
The American constitution provides for equal opportunities and also the chance to get medical
services to all the United States citizens. Although this is the case in most cases about 50% of the
total Americans, do not receive the required services due to the cost elements associated with the
process (Robbins et al 2015). The development of the affordable care Act was an initiative
which was geared towards ensuring that Americans both rich and the poor would get the services
at any place no matter the cost. It was the mechanism which was aimed at making sure that
Americans were enjoying health service as it is indicated in the constitution.
How the policy is involved in the process of checks and balances.
3
Week 3 Assignment
The process of checks and balances was implemented to limit the powers of the departments of
an organization or to protect against corruption and errors within the department. Affordable
Care Act offers the organization an opportunity re-examine the health care approaches (Sommers
et al 2015). The Affordable Care act is involved in the process of checks and balances as it
ensures good health of the workers in the organization while the process of checks and balances
ensures good financial health within an organization.
How the policy relates to public policy and elections and how the policy is portrayed by the
media.
Public policy is the manner in which the government addresses the issues affecting the citizens
such as health and maintenance of law and order. The Affordable Care Act enables the
government to examine various healthcare strategies and ensures that the healthcare services
provided to the citizens are optimal (W Leo, 2015). Voters are more concerned with the issue of
health when the health services are good, and measures for future improvements are in place they
are mobilized to participate in the elections.
They should remain with the existing plan but should put into considerations that they don’t
reduce they coverage they offer or increase costs to the employees. In determining whether an
employee is a full-time employee or not the act defines full-time employees as those individuals
who work for at least thirty hours in a week (sFrean, et al 2017). According to the examined
analysis, they show that the use of open exchanges among businesses will have no impact on the
number of people insured but the number of insured individuals will surely increase. This way
the state will have attained its main objective of ensuring that so many people can receive better
health care services in the state

Week 3 Assignment
How the policy impacts voting and the election process.
Choices of the voters are influenced by both the preferences for the time to come and also by
assessing different domains during the election period. Voters are more concerned about the
healthcare services and the cost and they mostly focus on it during the elections (Barbaresco et
al. 2015). Voters have different opinions about the Affordable Healthcare Act. Some think that
the act is underperforming while others think that it is working very well. Voter’s satisfaction
with better health care and with strategic measures for future improvement can result to a good
turn up during the elections
One of the reasons could be keeping promises. During campaigns, Trump had promised the
voters to replace Obamacare and come up with a better alternative medical bill that would be
able to cater for all Americans. Though most of the politician is known to not keeping their
promises, this would be seen as one way of keeping the said promises to the voter. The second
reason could be that they want to satisfy the donors and activists (Allison, 2017). The third
reason could be ideology. There is an ideology that Obamacare may be collapsing in some states,
and so there is need to come to a reforming bill that will be able to rescue those individuals who
feel like they have been left behind by the Affordable Care Act. The last reason could be that the
Republicans want to annoy their liberals. This could be termed as negative reasoning in the
modern world but presents a fact why the Republicans could be committed to reforming the bill
even when what they are proposing is insufficient compared to what was there.
Conclusion.
Affordable Care Act should ensure that there are affordable insurance services accessible to
many citizens as health is the most important areas of concern. This act has some shortcomings

as most citizens feel that it is not sustained. The government should formulate strategies of how
to improve it so that the citizens are satisfied. A vital process such as voting and election can be
affected greatly if the citizens do not feel fulfilled.

This is where the introduction for your paper should begin. You should indent the first
paragraph and include a hook to draw your reader in and make the topic interesting. Your
introduction should also include an overview of the main points you will discuss in your paper
and conclude with a concise thesis statement of 25 words or less that clearly summarizes what
your paper is about. Please be sure to not refer to the paper in your paper. For example, “In this
paper, I will discuss…” is not appropriate for formal writing. Also, your paper should not use
words such as I, we, or you. For more suggestions, please read about thesis statements on our
Ashford Writing Center website: Thesis Statements. Other helpful tools on our website are the
Thesis Generator and Moving from Prompt to Thesis. Your introduction should be at least ½ a
page in length.
Historical and Constitutional Background
Your paper should include the four main headings as outlined in this template. It is vital,
in order to fully meet the expectations for this paper, that you support your arguments utilizing
scholarly sources. Be sure to summarize, paraphrase, and include in-text citations. You must
properly cite all additional resources with in-text APA formatted citations and an APA reference
list in order to avoid plagiarism. No more than 10% of your paper should be direct quotations.
Each heading/topic should be a a minimum of 1 to 1.5 pages in length. It is important to include
transitions and more deeply reflect and expand on the material from each week. Be sure to
review the WayPoint feedback provided by your instructor from your Week 2 and Week 3

Checks and Balances
Your second section should focus on the checks and balances that are involved within the
policy you have selected.
Public Policy, Elections, and Media
The third section of your final paper should focus on how the policy relates to public
policy, elections, and is portrayed by the media. Each paragraph of your assignment should be
clear and easy to follow. Ashford has several valuable resources to help you write a strong
paragraph, such as How to Write a Good Paragraph and the P.I.E. Paragraph Structure.
Voting and the Election Process
The fourth section of your paper should focus on how the policy is impacted by voting
and the election process. In addition to being well-written, each paragraph throughout your paper
should include an in-text citation to all ideas, references, or quotations from outside sources and
research. The Ashford Writing Center provides many resources to help you follow correct
citation style (primarily APA) and gives lessons and examples of how to paraphrase and cite
sources. The APA Key Elements page is a good place to start.
Conclusion
Your paper should conclude with a review of your main points and a review of your
thesis. The conclusion should not introduce any points that have not already been addressed in
the main body of the paper. This is an opportunity to solidify your ideas for the reader and leave
a lasting impression.
Remember to start your references on a new page. Space down until References is as the
top of the final page of your paper. References
