I need someone who done the construction engineering reports to help me on this report. The number of pages depend on the report and this report is kind of long. I’ll provide you with all the pictures and Info.Laboratory assignments will be completed as TYPED reports with the following sections:1. Project (location, description, participants)2. Project Conditions (project status, weather, on day visited)3. Answers to specific questions for the lab4. Summary and conclusionsThe lab report can be as long as needed in order to complete the assignment. Professionalwork is expected. Use a table of contents, figures and tables should be referenced andhave captions, and so on. LAB 6 – CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION
Host: Level 10 Construction & JR Construction Inc.
Project: K1
During our next field trip you will observe concrete construction techniques. Our host is Level 10
Construction & JR Construction INC. and the project is the K1 project.
1. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This standard report section should include description of the project, the status at the day of
the visit (work progress, current work including trades and manpower) and the main
participants. Make sure to provide the name of the owner, general contractor and key
subcontractors
2. CONCRETE COMPONENTS
What concrete components does the scope of the concrete work include?
Provide photos and description of the main components (i.e., columns, post tensioned slabs,
waffle slabs? Drop beams, shear walls, etc.).
3.
FORMWORK
What forming systems does the contractor use to form?
(1) the walls and columns,
(2) the slabs and beams?
What are the components of the forming systems?
3.1 Slabs formwork: Describe the components of the formwork and provide a LABELED
PHOTOGRAPH or SKETCH showing ALL the elements in the forming system, from the
ground up to the surface which will become the bottom of the concrete floor.
3.2 Long and/or Short Span Beams. How are the beams formed? Explain and provide 1-2
photos of the Cunningham system.
3.3 Walls and columns formwork: Describe the components of the formwork and provide a
LABELED PHOTOGRAPH or SKETCH showing ALL the elements in the wall/column
forming system.
3.4 Components: What is a waler?
Did the system you observed use walers?
What is a taper tie? Explain how a taper tie works. Does it show when the work is finished
– why or why not?
4. FORMWORK LOGISTICS
How many sets of forms does the contractor need to have on site?
Lab 6: Concrete Construction – Page 1 | C O N E 2 8 0
Why so many?
Where are the forms assembled?
What trade assembles the form?
What is the crew size and main tasks?
How do they get from the point of assembly to their installation point?
How are they lifted in place?
What equipment is used?
Show relevant photos and site layout sketches to explain your answers.
What type of crane was used for this project? Why?
What is the reach and capacity?
Why was the specific crane location selected?
WHICH contractor provided the crane?
Who plans, reviews, and approves the crane lifts?
Does the concrete operation involve any critical lifts?
How many trades are currently using the crane (at the time of the visit)?
How is the time of the crane scheduled?
5.
REINFORCING STEEL
Rebar:
How is the rebar delivered to the site, and where are the rebar “cages” assembled?
How are the individual pieces held together?
What kind of workers put the rebar in place?
Who do they work for (general contractor, concrete contractor, …?)
The reinforcing steel ends up encased inside the concrete. How do they hold the steel
away from the formwork so that it will be covered or protected from corrosion? (show in a
photograph).
Post-tensioned slab and beams:
What is a Post tension slab / beam?
Why are they used (what are the advantages)?
How are they constructed?
What are the key components (provide photos if possible).
How many days does the concrete have to cure before the cables are tensioned? Why?
6.
EMBEDS and PENETRATIONS
What kinds of things other than reinforcing steel are embedded in the concrete during
construction of slab or walls?
Find and provide a labeled photograph of at least two different types (for example, conduit,
sleeves, welding plates, anchor bolts,).
How are they held in place?
Lab 6: Concrete Construction – Page 2 | C O N E 2 8 0
How many different trades have components (or penetrations) to place?
Who puts that stuff in?
What happens if embeds are not available on schedule?
What happens if the embeds are damaged or displaced during concrete placement – who
has to fix that, at whose cost?
What happens if a penetration is missed?
Can the contractor drill the slab after it is poured?
7.
CONCRETE
What kind of concrete is used for the slab, walls, and columns?
What is the design strength (in psi)?
What is the slump?
How does the contractor make sure that there will be no voids at the bottom of the walls?
Where does the concrete come from?
How is the concrete delivery sequenced and coordinated?
8.
SCHEDULE AND SEQUENCE OF WORK
How long does it take to build each floor level?
In what sections does the contractor pour the deck and walls?
Why was this section size selected?
How long do the reshores have to stay in place?
WHAT ARE THE STEPS in constructing each floor of the structure? Include all steps
starting with layout until the floor is completely ready for the next operation. Who is
performing each step? What tools they use? A detailed answer is expected, documented
with photographs for key steps. You will be able to see several stages in the process by
looking at the work in progress.

INSPECTIONS
What inspections are performed related to the formwork, rebar and concrete placement?
For each inspection, indicate: Who performs the inspection? What does each inspection check?
What specific requirements need to be satisfied to pass the inspection?

SAFETY TOOLBOX
For this assignment, review the OSHA standards for construction in relation to concrete and
masonry construction (subpart Q).
1. For each section of subpart Q, provide a brief summary indicating the key issues that the
section addresses.
2. Identify and review the section that states the requirements for cast-in-place concrete.
3. Select five requirements from that section, and indicate how does the contractor addresses
these requirements on the project. Make sure to reference the specific OSHA paragraph
citation to back up your answer. Provide photos to demonstrate the use of the contractor’s
practices. Use the format shown below.
