The purpose of this report is to familiarize you with the historical background and context of
cultural practices and ceremonies. You are to research a food(s) indicative of a cultural tradition
or ceremony for one cultural group with which you are unfamiliar. The idea is to gain an
understanding of how these foods are symbolic to that culture and how they tie into that culture’s
historical background and contemporary lifestyle. Examples include the Japanese Tea
Ceremony, Passover, Ramadan, foods brought to America during slavery, etc. The report is to
be a minimum of 4 typewritten/word-processed pages and must include a minimum of 3-5
