authors reviewed on the three categories or factors that were the motivation of domestic
or local terrorism cases. The three categories have been found out to include changes in
the society, economic challenges and public and political policy factors. Economic
challenges are mainly due to the restructuring and changes made by the government on
the policies and regulations that affect the economy. The changes in the society mostly
affect the male individuals making them to be less privileged. Political changes have led
to resentments among most individuals in the society. These factors can easily result to
domestic terrorism in the country. From his study, the author found out that the control
of the Democratic Party in the White House, encourage increased cases of terrorism in
the country. The authors also related certain factors of the societal changes as being

Economic hardships are also one of the main factors that motivate an individual to
participate in cases of domestic terrorism. The economic factors involve hardships in
economic lives of individuals in the country. Cases of increased unemployment rates due
to closure of some of the manufacturing companies and cases of poverty are the
economic hardships that individuals go through, leading to participation in crime cases
such as domestic terrorism. The author suggests that to eliminate cases of domestic
terrorism, there are certain factors that should be considered. The factors to be considered
should relate to the three determinants and motivating factors of domestic terrorism
(Piazza, 2017). Solving issues of political resentments, economic hardships and problems
that arise from certain social factors will be aid in reducing cases of domestic terrorism.

Atran (2003), finds out that the terrorists who are in the Middle East part of the
continent thrive to attack and murder majority of community members who live in
poverty. The terrorists who execute the crime are well off individuals in terms of their
economic lives. Some of them are even more educated that most of the members around
their communities. Atran suggest that the first line defense force should take effective
measures to prevent the communities from being attacked by the terrorists through
coming up with effective mechanisms and strategies to prevent the awful action of the
terrorists. The author states that most nations, particularly the United States of America,
fight poverty and lack of education among the citizens as it is a contributing factor to the
rising cases of terrorism in the world (Atran, 2003). The author further states that
economic loss of individuals who are well educated may make them to support terrorism
and cases of crime. This is contributed by higher rates of unemployment to university and
college students. Atran states that defense forces in the middle-line categories perform
their duties by tracing and destroying organizations that support the terrorist groups and
separating their leaders making them to disperse. According to him this is a short-term
strategy as other organizations that may support the terrorist may still emerge at the end
of it all. On the other hand, the first-line defense forces work mainly towards preventing
the terrorist from recruiting more individuals into their groups (Atran, 2003). The author
suggests that to prevent or reduce bombing cases, research and findings should be carried
out to comprehend and understand the configurations of the cultural and psychological
relationships that may be a motivating factor to individuals that perform the act. This is
an appropriate strategy of curbing case of terrorism.
