I. Proposed Topic/Title for your Final Paper: Energy Drinks and its Health Effects
II. Discuss why you chose this topic and the justification for it. Demonstrate you have
thought about the topic and its relevance to nutritional science, health and wellness. A
short paragraph should be sufficient.
This topic holds a lot of meaning for me personally, being in the military
drinking energy drinks isn’t an option it’s a requirement. With the long work
hours, the fluctuating time of rest/work and the lack of sleep at any given day.
Ever since I entered the military in 2008, we as military personnel have some sort
of dependence to these extremely addictive supplements. Since energy drinks
are relatively new to the market we have yet to see the long term affects it poses
on the human body with daily consumption. This could fall into the category of
human addiction to sugars and caffeine with the threat it has to the human body.
This drink alone has been comprised of mainly all nutritional science, blended
and mixed into a lightening in a bottle. Promising energy and focus to keep you
up throughout the day.
III. Discuss how you will go about your research. For example how will you get useful
and scholarly science based information for your paper such as journals, current
textbooks, scholarly internet sites, etc. This can be brief, a sentence or two, but please
keep in mind you will be using the science in your paper so think carefully about it. This
will come in handy as you begin your research and complete your annotated
bibliography next week.
My research will encompass of my textbook of “Understanding Nutrition”
along with published medical articles from the Mayo Clinic to summarize how the
science was broken down to make this drink. I will also discuss the ingredients of
what makes these drinks and customer feedbacks from company websites such
as Red bull energy, Monster energy, Rockstar energy, etc. Corresponding with
unbiased health reports of death, long term health prediction, mental and
physical outcomes.

WebMD has medical doctors permanently on their staff, has earned a seal of approval from
America’s largest independent healthcare oversight organization for some time now, and has
won numerous medical awards, so their information is pretty good. This specific article has been

and other caffeinated aids is clearly occurring and is a serious concern. They composed a
retrospective observational study analyzing data from the calls regarding energy drink exposures
recorded in the database of an Australian poisons information center over 7 years to 2010. The
new millennium has ushered in a wave of synthetic, caffeinated high-energy drinks targeted at
the youth market. Over the past 10 years, the consumption of caffeinated beverages intended to
“energize” has increased significantly. Even though this study was compiled in Austria, I feel
that it’s a clear reflection on how it’s effecting the U.S market.
