Leadership and Personal Effectiveness
The LDP that I made for the previous course was based on the leadership goals that I
need for the improvement in my leadership skills. The review reveals that I have attained most of
my goals by attending the activities that I needed. However, I failed in some activities thus
falling short of my expectations. I managed to attend several conferences on team building and
managing the team itself. Through these conferences, I gained insight from other peopleâ??s
experiences. Thus, I understood how different people apply these concepts. I succeeded in
understanding the basis of proper management of teams because I interacted with the teams and
understood how they work.
I failed in several activities because I was not in time with my schedule. Looking at the
LDP, I realize that most of the tasks were accomplished a day after the planned day. For
instance, I did not manage to study the organizational chart of my company and thus missed out
on the benefits of such. In essence, my LDP now focuses on the following of a stricter schedule
in achieving various goals. Therefore, I will focus more on doing the prescribed activities within
the required time. As such, I have a chance of bettering my leadership in this course.
Gap Analysis
My gap analysis template involved four specific goals that were to be worked on in the
course of time. First, the gap of taking record of my progress was achieved. I managed to
improve my role in critically acclaiming various activities in the workplace. First, I had a rating
of 5 out of 7 before the progress, and at the end, it was at 7. I learned this through following a
schedule and organizing my duties chronologically. The other gap that I feel I did well in was
that of assessing the ability of a leader to create relationships and nurture them. By interviewing

leaders and employees equally, I managed to understand their character traits and understand
their relationships.
The third gap was that of explaining the characteristics of healthy organizational climate.
I feel I did not manage this gap well because I did not attain the full potential that is 7 out of 7.
First, I feel the failure to understand my companyâ??s climate created another obstacle for me.
However, interacting with various people and reading journals gave me a hint on the activity.
Finally, I have mastered the process of decision-making in teams since I have interacted with
different teams and leaders and attained the relevant experience.
Leadership Development Reflection
My leadership plan for this course has changed slightly from my previous one. First, as a
leader, I am now more focused on the finances rather than team building. The reason why I have
focused on this new smart goal is that financial management and teamwork go hand in hand in
managing the workplace better and making it an efficient place. Therefore, my goal is to become
a better leader by coaching and supporting subordinates to achieve specific accounting goals in
the department by the next three months. This is inspired by the fact that financial support is
essential to the success of any organization.
To achieve this smart goal, I will allow myself to interact with subordinates. Further, I
will need to interact with various people in the finance department and understand accounting
better to transfer the same skills to my subordinates. Therefore, I need to understand the teaching
skills applicable in the workplace.
I didnâ??t change much, because of my understanding of financial management skill. The
support of a team in business is everything for a company. The concept and team work play a big
part. This course helped me to adjust my goals. My focus has change a great deal and my ideas

and knowledge will be passed on to the subordinates. That way, I will; manage the workplace
better.
