Global Warming
My issue of concern is global warming. The reason is that the average and normal
temperature of the earth has been increasing for the past few years. Many factors have been
attributed to this, key among them being human activities that have shaped and changed a lot
about the environment around us. Ideally, global warming is attributed to the presence of carbon
dioxide together with other pollutants, which are collected in the atmosphere (MacMillan). Once
collected, these gases take up sunlight and radiation, which comes from the surface of the earth,
hence causing a rapid increase in temperature on the surface of the earth.
Global warming has had serious effects, which have been felt all over the globe. Cases
have been registered where a number of people have lost their lives due to extreme levels of heat
that have been recorded in particular areas. Similarly, Antarctica has been on the receiving end
of a loss in terms of ice cover (MacMillan). Scientists point out that close to 134 billion tons of
ice cover across the Antarctica has melted for a period of the past ten years. If measures are not
taken up to address the matter soon enough, statistics indicate that the trend may continue with
serious effects being felt in terms of decreasing sea levels.
Other effects that have been attributed to global warming include the melting of glaciers
and traces of drought in various locations globally. Drought carries a significant impact on
agriculture especially in areas where people are dependent on it as a source of livelihood. Water
shortage may result to poor yields, loss of domestic animals, and risk of occurrence of wildfires

among other adverse effects (MacMillan). Various proposals have been made by governments
and stakeholders to try and mitigate global warming and the effects that it has on people. For
instance, environmental peace talks have been held in an effort aimed at encouraging
governments to educate citizens on the effects that global warming has, together with teaching
them practices that are friendly to the environment.

Michael Moffatt, â??The Journal of Higher Education 1991 Taylor & Francis
Most colleges nowadays provide both culture and education in institutions. United States
colleges have a mixture of youth culture and higher learning for its students. These have
happened over a hundred years. Undergraduates in America in the nineteenth century invented a
culture for the youths which were being done outside the classroom but within the college and
named it â??college life. This culture has been passed to future generations of students. Michael a
investigated this matter by use of anthropological methods which included taking two years of
observing participant in the residence halls of a state university which included Rutgers in New
Brunswick, New Jersey. This college which had a population of eighty-five hundred students in
undergraduates and one thing Michael found in their dorms which had a modern college life. The
life they were living was not studentâ??s life of those in college level as there were a group of
mentalities and behaviours. This kind of life is what the students remember after finishing, and it
is also popular.
Nickell Stephen. 1997. â?? Unemployment and Labor Market Rigidities; Europe Versus
North America. Journal of Economic Perspectives, 11 (3): 55-74.
In the market, today unemployment and rigidity in labor market is a very vital issue. Europe
has high unemployment due to stiffness and inflexibility of a job market in Europe relative to
that in the United States. The North American job market is flexible and dynamic which led to
low unemployment. For European need to work on their labor market unless they want
permanent double digital unemployment. There is rigidity in European labour market which
causes a high level of unemployment, but there are some rigidities which do not cause high
unemployment but instead serve a useful purpose. To provide a suitable contrast to North

America, all the western Europe countries should be lumped together. But these countries have
different lab our market, and its movement is small due to barriers like culture and language.
This has led to enormous diversity which is greater than North America.
The period between 1983 and 1990 a variation mean of 3 percent of the population of OECD
Europe operates and live in the countries labour market with unemployment average rate lower
than that of United States. Variation in long-term employment is higher than that in the shortterm employment. Therefore, high unemployment in the labour market is associated with poor
education standard in the labour market bottom end, overall high taxes which impinge on labour.
These are where high payroll taxes are associated with minimum wages that are high.
Unionization with wages bargaining collectively is high. Generous unemployment benefits are
allowed to run on indefinitely which is combined with little or lack of pressure on the
unemployment.
