Course Project – Comprehensive Scenario/Teamwork
Consider the following scenario:
You are an agency supervisor. Two of your female employees are close friends. They are often seen in each
other’s office. They have imperious personalities. They go out for drinks after work and socialize with each other
on weekends. When one of these two workers becomes upset, the other follows suit. If the two argue with each
other, there is tension in the office. In staff meetings these two workers will sometimes gang up on other workers
who may disagree with their ideas and proposals regarding clients and agency functioning. Some workers have
complained about how these two workers can intimidate other workers. More recently your agency has
experienced a high staff turnover.
In a 1-2 page paper address the following:
What are the salient features associated with this case?
What is the supervisor’s primary responsibility in responding to this behavior?
Discuss the role that diverse perspectives could be playing in creating some of the conflict
Why is understanding diversity as important when working on a team?
How can these two resolve the issue so that they are both demonstrating valuable and
meaningful contribution to their tasks and work teams?
Identify a minimum of 3 concepts and definitions from your various human services courses and
explain how these concepts are evident and relevant to this scenario. For example:
“In the Rosales scenario there are several examples of human service concepts and terms. One
term that is relevant to this scenario is cultural assimilation. Cultural assimilation refers to
process by which a person from a differing culture adapts and changes behaviors to meet the
demands of the new culture (Jones 2016). The family will need to learn English and adapt to the
US culture as part of their assimilation process.”
Use bold print or italics to highlight the key concept and terms so that your instructor can easily
identify the terms/concepts you have chosen for this scenario. Use credible sources where
(Please note that by the course project’s completion you’ll want to make reference to as many
concepts from your human services curriculum as possible e.g. Human Behavior, Theoretical
Service Delivery, Research, Human Sexuality etc…)
Discuss and propose resolutions to this scenario.
Just like the past week, Instructions
Identified Concepts and terms that are evident in the scenario, which are relevant to the scenario, key
concepts that are evident that we can see.
First and Second Questions
Salient feature is the term referring to the â??red lightâ? in the scenario
For example: child abuse, safety, dysfunctional family dinamics, sexual identity etc. any concepts that
you can find. The features that needs to be address and required attention.
Course of action Then what would be first course of action by exampleâ? are you putting the kids in
foster care, are you removing the dad out of the home, removed the kidsâ?
For example Shandra, the victim turns out to be not accepting the previous fight with her dad, the
reason why she was referred to the agency. Shandra put it’s clear that the white people interpret child
punishment as way as child abuse, giving the impression that shes used to this kinda â??normalâ?
behavior. Another feature is family dysfunction and safety. As a caseworker safety of the teens is the
number one priority. Interviewing the dad and mom would be the next step before the teens are
released. Since they were physical abuse I would recommend at this moment the removal of the dad
until the investigation is over.
The first course of action after the conduction of separate interviews, mom and dad needs to be part
of the interrogation process as well. During this interview, I would ensure that the neutrality is
maintained, to avoid making the child understand the next course of action I would take. Any
implications to the child may cause the children not to participate. After the interview, next step is to
engage the parents in the solution. Engaging the family would form a platform into which I would be
able to make the right decision. Family therapy using the systems theory to identify and address the
dynamics of the family, also Individual therapy to Macy and Shandra is a most to make sure they can
get along with all the members of the family. The goal is to all the members of the family are to be
safe and live in a healthy environment.
Then this is the most important part because you need to identified 3 concepts, and explained why this
concepts are relevant to the scenario.
First â?? In the case scenario â??The family caseâ? or In the â??Rosales family scenarioâ? one human service
concept that is evident is â??child abuseâ? (you need to bold the term, so the professor can see). Second
Sexual abuse is the abuse of . (credible source, John 2013). Third In this case child abuse is evident
thru the process where Shanda has been referred to a child protective service agency after her father
has physically assaulted her.
First part identified the concept and Bold Print the concept
Second defined the concept with a credible source where you got that definition
Third explained why is evident in the scenario. Explained why that term goes in the scenario you need to
connect those dots so makes sense in why they need the service.
The last terms in the family problem scenario is Sexual Identity. Sexual identity refers to how a person
builds and defines their sexual Ego. This includes sexual orientation, role-play identity, along with
their significance in a personâ??s experiences and life history (American Psychological Association &
National Association of School Psychologists, 2015). Sandra appears to be very upset when Macyâ??s
states â??she donâ??t even like boysâ? she became really angry to the fact that she mentioned her sexuality.
Referring Shandra to assist to counseling, where the Narrative Sexual Identity Therapy can be
beneficial for her to understand her sexual attractions.
