How Silence Destroy Happiness
I woke up at 5 something, went to the window, and saw the most peaceful view. It was
daylight, sun started to go up slowly, everything was so quiet. Birds started talking to each other,
people here and there, city became alive again.
Surprisingly, I decided to go for a walk. The weather was amazing, it was close by the
sea, I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, smelled the clean air,I had nothing in mind, I am Free!
We are all human being, we may differ in terms of appearances or even thinking, but we are all
equal. We all would like to be Free! Without any judgments. Since we are human beings, we
may feel insulted or superior and successful, this can be built on the basis of the way that the
person thinks of himself. For instance, some people might judge others on their color or
ethnicity, and dehumanize their value which leads to insulting their lives .All humans may be in
a situation based on misunderstanding or injustice that would have consequences; however,
educating themselves and knowing how to think wisely is the solution for this.
First, misunderstanding is common, many of which are not serious and are easily
removed, but are sometimes very discouraging, especially when false impressions persist despite
all efforts to keep them away. Since others can not read our thoughts and intentions, sooner or
later someone will misinterpret our words or actions, and there is a lot of potential for
misunderstanding. Sometimes we fail to express our ideas with the desired degree of clarity and
accuracy. Therefore, in the text of â??The Single Storyâ?, Chimamanda Adichie, a Nigerian writer,
pointed that â??it would never occured to me to think that just because I had read a novel in which
a character was a serial killer that he was somehow representative of all Americansâ? (par. 21).
Her message was about the way that people thinks that one person, one attitude, and one
behavior would be representative a whole country, society, or even a religion. In addition, it
could be explained as the single story, which means how people look at one story from one side
with closed-minded. Also, it could be explained as how people make one wrong story of a person
and believing it. For instance, not just because some Arabic people are wearing hijab means that
they are terrorist. Similar to what I mentioned, itâ??s about how they think one person could
present a whole country, or not just because one person was malignant means everyone is the
same. We are dress differently, our beliefs are different and different religion, but we are all
equal. Moreover, judging others by one simple or looking to something from one side would be
ends up causing misunderstanding.
Secondly, people won’t be living a happy life by treating others with injustice. Indeed,
injustice is that hangs on some souls and violates the human instinct created by God, which is
based on the basis of justice and compassion among humans, injustice torn the fabric of society
and destroy it, and spread corruption among its members. What does motivate me managing my
ideas was throw a text called â??The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelasâ?, talking about how
silence people can do nothing and their voice wonâ??t be heard even if they tried to help the child
in the story that lost his childhood, by Ursula Le Guin, â??an American novelist. â??Le Guin argues that
some of the young people are upset about the child who was suffering to make others happy,
they were thinking that even if the child was liberal he would not get the freedom of how it is, so
they end up going home with lacrimation and Concerns (par 11). The authorâ??s point here was
about the fact that how injustice dehumanized the child life, even if he was free, he wonâ??t feel it
as a free child. Similar to that, in United States the chances for the white people are more likely
than the African Americans. They are trying to dehumanize their personality, increase their
chances to build their future. As we understand the injustice of others to build happiness for
some can cause the deprivation of humanity and the destruction of the soul.
Have someone thought about the consequences of judging others and injustice them?
The way of how we interact and think, or how we misunderstand someone, all has
consequences that appears slowly. What grabs my attention about the consequences of that is
Adichieâ??s Ted Talk when she has mentioned that â??it robs people of dignity. It makes our
recognition of our equal humanity difficult. It emphasizes how we are different rather than how
we are similarâ? (parr. 26). The author has talked about how it does have effect in our life
directly. A single story is a person who works to accuse people of falsehood because of a sick
person who hates him and to have his desire to avenge those who do not like by defaming them
among people. Accusing people of wrong facts without a witness condemning it enmity between
people and helps to spread crime in society. The person who got accused today will work to
show his innocence in many criminal ways. In a like manner, in Iraq there was a prison, one of
the jailer was extremely strict with the prisoners. Some of the people were taken to the jail
without offense. The prisoner was treating them like slavery, one day one of them gave up and
committed suicide due to the dehumanization that he got there. As we understand, before saying
a word to anyone, try to say it for yourself, if it hurts you then don’t say it, because it might affect
some people’s life.
In our life, we are exposed to many unusual things and situations that sometimes affect
the continuation of a certain situation, distortion of position or malfunction. These situations and
events may be of minor importance but they close paths or stand in the way of achieving the
goals, but people have to be educated and know how to think wisely in order to solve these
problems. One of the texts that I was reading grap my whole attention about being educated is
not enough to make life easier, but knowing how to think is the key and that text called â??This is
Waterâ?, by David Foster Wallace, â??an American writer and university instructor of English and
creative writing. Wallace assert that â??It is about the real value of real education, which has
nothing to do with knowledge, and everything to do with simple awarenessâ?(par. 33). His point
was how awareness, education, and knowledge one complete the other to build an intelligent
mind that could be aware to decide in the right time for the right situations. Furthermore,
Wallace was also talking about how does the personâ??s freedom based on not being selfish and
think about people and how we could sacrifice for them. thinking wisely is to achieve the results
we seek to achieve, all through the real education based on knowledge of reality and available
means. Also, being educated is to increase encourage people and make them more understanding
Every time we try to do something meaningful and important we ends up facing intense
self-resistance. There will always be a sound in our minds forcing us to stop, mostly this sound
control us. Sometimes when we have the fear of doing what we really feel we have created for
us, the task that makes us feel our authenticity and our being, we run away, doing so by living a
life that is like life. The surface look is not enough, so sometimes we need to look more deeply to
understand. The word that uttered from our mouths sometimes itâ??s like a shotgun from a pistol.
We, the human beings, differ in the level of our intelligence, the degree of our learning, our own
experiences, our social background, and this determines our way of dealing with other people.
Not everyone agrees with us, so everyone has the right to disagree with us, but we are all equal.
